Altar of Gratitude

The first line of our first reading for this weekend has Moses saying that the priest shall receive the basket from you and shall set it in front of the altar of the Lord.

Over the years you have presented me with various baskets and I have placed them in front of the altar of my gratitude. What have been some of the things that were placed in the basket for this priest?

When I first purchased my home in Kalama:

  • Dennis Koering came out with his leaf blower and cleared my driveway.
  • Jay Donaldson cut down the grass in my field that had become overgrown.
  • Norbert Wyzanowski painted my home.
  • Michael Walsh presented me with a new pump house for my well.
  • Ed Quintrell has helped me with various projects around the house.
  • Many people have been kind enough to bring grass clippings and leaves for my garden.
  • Dan Entwistle even brought some chicken manure.

You remember me so generously at Christmas time.

  • Linda Colf often presents me with Sunday dinner.
  • Rosemary Bosch gives me blueberries and the Altar Society gifts me with goodies after the bake sale.
  • Dana Rea and her mother Peggy surprise me with plants that in their estimation I just can’t live without.
  • Mona and Travis Bennett gift me with snicker-doodles. I enjoy the let’s get together after the 5 PM Mass in Kalama at the Columbia Inn gathering

It is lucky that I have two dogs because I would not know what to do with the doggie treats I receive now and again. In all, I am most grateful for your kind thoughtfulness and the way you take care of me.

You have filled many baskets over the years and I place them all at the altar of my gratitude.
